i just received an elishewitz phantom and the knive appears to have a chisel grind. i have been on allens site but it has very little information about blade design. just curious if this was normal. by the way i can't tell you how much i like this knife, what a work of art and function.

Hi Mike!
I just got a Shadow about a week ago, and I just love that knife, and it is not my first custom.Smooth, nice looking with carbon fiber scales, and blue titanium accent. And for ATS-34 is very sharp.Mine is v-grind, as I thought all his knives were, but I have never handled a Phantom.
Enjoy!!

I believe the Phantom is a chisel ground on one side and has a concave grind on the back side. I've never used one, so I don't know how well it works.

The "triple-hollow-grind" on that Phantom is designed for one thing-

To create a sucking wound that won't easily close up.

It is single purpose, but beautifully done.

I concure with anthony. This is a beautiful knife with serious intent. Just do not get caught carrying one on the street. It violates most knife carry laws.

Cheers,

ts

Actually, you can find the Phantom in a traditional hollow grind, and a chisel type grind with the hollow on the back side. I've seen both in shops with several different style handles.

I just came back from the Guild Show and wanted to thank all of you for the good words. Anthony hitted it right on the head. The Phantom has a traditional tri-grind blade. I designed this knife about 5 years ago with a sole purpose: defense.
I hope this answers your questions.
Thank you

Wow, this one is up from the depths

Ewok, you had best call the man, as that is the only black coated Phantom that I have ever laid eyes on. And Monolock? It must be the only one like it so far.

Santa says you've been a good forum member, so what are you waiting for?

Ewok,
I have a black Phantom I got about 5 years ago - I just took picture of it last night - I plan on getting a picture up here soon but if you E-MAIL me I can send you one - I might be willing to part with it if you are interested?

I am just curious, someone posted a note about the Phantom violating knife carry laws, which laws does it violate? And why?? Is it the blade shape or size? Just a question.

Thanks

HI
I'm not positive but it might be the shape and grind of the blade, according to Allen the blade was designed to create a large sucking wound;cool huh;

Ewok, Check out Allen's site under Available Knives. Bet you'll have to buy one now. I just received a custom left hand Phantom. They're worth it.

Yep, these are great knives. I just received one of the new Black Integral Phantoms. Very nice.

I would just like to say I bought my Elishewitz Diablo from the good people of Knife Art. com and was very satisfied.

Miarrow,

Thanks for the answer. Is this the reason? Does anyone really know? I am just curious to know if the blades intended use can make it illegal, if thats the case. It does not matter to me...as I intend to own and carry one, as soon as I can afford it!

Hi MT
I would say check your local law enforcement agency, size does matter. The Phantom is designed as defensive weapon, you might try emailing Allen he is very friendly and were I recieved my information about the knife when I purchased it from a private owner.
I own three Elishewitz's all are flawless and the bolster lock is rock solid my next purchase will be a Striker.

Good luck

I live out here in Montana, not much excites the locals short of a bomber, and even that doesn't do too much as long as he is not blowing Montana up!! I am legal to carry an auto if I so choose, the length is not a problem, I was wondering if it had to do with the grind? Though I don't think that would be an issue here either.
