It makes great handles. The points should be just about solid and make great handles for thru or hidden tang knives. If the main beam is big enough you should be able to get some good scales off of it by splitting it into quarters or thirds in lenghtwise sections about 5 to 6 inches long then flat grinding to remove the soft center core.
I use a lot of elk antler and hunt for sheds every spring.
