Starting a new thread is just fine with me and quite welcomed. Feel free to ask anything in the future this way. Its why its here.
I have only done the D4 mods and quit working on those for a number of reasons. I am not sure until handling it if that E4 falls in the same league or not for some of the issues I ran into for the D4 on each one. However, if I did work on it it would be the same price as all my other jobs of that nature for slab construction and that would be $225 for the starting base price that could go up from there depending on what else was wanted.
G10 only would be less for example but slab sides would be a lot of work and grinding to get to the finish line. On one like that I would also have to remake a new lock spring holder/stand off for the rear to replace the FRN one in there now unless the Endura is made differently than the D4 FRN folder is. I've done it for others thats not an issue but it means added steps not always needed. One of the issues for me was the weird hole sizes used by Spyderco's makers for that model in Japan. I don't know what size pins those really are. They literally fall inbetween every drill size I have available and I end up being just off enough usually to drive someone like me nuts! This was why I gave up on further work for the D4 after trying a few. Replacing the body and remaking the spacer helps but I'm still having to use the original hardware for the rocker arm and blade which may or may not be problematic for me. If those are the same size pins used in that one as they are in the D4 I'd just as soon pass on it as to take it on.
The problem is this. The next size up I have available to me for a new barrel in the rocker arm which is the lock bar, is 3/16" and thats too large. The bar can't accomadate that size. Which means I'm going to have to use the original and then drill close as I can and then ream and ream and ream and just hope I get that hole right so there is no give in the lock when I'm done. Nothing drives me up a wall faster than vertical movement in the blade in use and I simply won't be very happy if it has give in it when I get it all together. Most folks would not notice some of it but thats not what matters to me really. What matters is if I notice. Now granted some have give when I see them originally. This I cannot always guarantee I can alleviate but sometimes I do get rid of it by tighter tolerances. I guess thats what I'm saying about the D4. Each one I did, good as it may have looked in pics didn't leave here with me feeling it was my best work you know?
The Native was that way for me also which is another I finally just quit taking on. Hope that makes sense without sounding like I'm whining. Proper sales procedure dictates that you don't draw attention to any negatives but I guess on some things I'm just too anal retentive about nit picky details to let it slide. I'm not saying I expect perfection or anything because obviously I'm far from that but I like to at least stay within what I feel are acceptable tolerances. Some of those were borderline and thats what bothered me with the new 4th generation Delica. I'm just assuming its the same with the 4th generation Endura.

If I did it it would be titanium since I no longer use stainless. Once titanium became readily available unlike when I first started doing them, well, thats all I use now.
