Entrek Javalina?

I have two entrek knives, and a custom from Ray Ennis, they are all great knives.

Sept. 97 of TK mag has a favorable review article on the Jag and the Survivor models by Bob Kasper. My experience with its 440 C steel and their somewhat steep edge angle (tanto blades) makes for a bit difficult to sharpen. A rework to a more shallow angle is required if it is going to do some serious utility work. But then, I have other blades besides tanto shapes for such uses. Rays ABS plastic sheaths are somewhat crude both in terms of shape and finish. But for a no frills working blade with decent steel and micarta scales, they is sensibly priced.

The workmanship is good on the Entrek line (I have Jag and Survivor) and the plastic sheaths work just fine, though like with any plastic sheath grit can scratch the blade. I carry the Jag regularly hiking. I wish Ray would put a less steep edge on the blades, but he says he went with edge durability over slicing ability for his users. 440C is a great steel.

I just recieved an Entrek Companion, through a trade with a fellow forumite, and I am very impressed.
The quality is excellent. I can't speak for the toughness overall as I have not had a chance to use it yet, but it surely looks pretty tough.
The sheath does leave a bit to be desired, but it will do until I decide what kind of sheath might work better for me.
