Long story short...it ain't much, but hey...
My car was parked outside of my work place in very cold weather for about 9 hours, and I had to go and wait for my wife who was coming by train around 4 AM
The train station was about 20 miles away, but it was so cold, that my car had all windows frozen, and plus, there was a fog I couldn't see 10 feet in front of me..not to forget I didn't have winter tires.
Anyway, my biggest problem where the windows, they were all covered in ice, and I wasn't exactly prepared for that
Good thing I keep my Rat plastic card that came with my Izula, and the RatPack number card in my wallet, so I used that to scrape the ice from the windshield and the other windows
worked great, the windows were all clean, no damage to the card, and even if the visibility was way low because of the thick fog, I managed to get started on my small journey, go and wait for my wife, and come back home safe.
Thanks to ESEE for making stuff that I always carry around, like those cards that never leave my wallet, and mean to me enough to carry with other important things in my wallet.

While I understand you giving mad props to Esee, I have to ask if you carry a debit/credit card, or a license around? Either one of those would've worked as well. I just wanted to point that out in case you leave your Esee card at home.

I know what you mean, I would have used one of those you mentioned, but the esee card was the first thing that crossed my mind, being that I had it with me, and jumps in my eyes when I open my wallet
Like I said in the first post, it ain't much of a story, just thought it would be nice to share here
Cheers

I had to use my debit card the other morning because I was running late to get to training and had forgot I loaned my scraper to a buddy the morning before. It worked good for me.

mlrs

I keep a Ice scrapper year round in my vehicle actually 2 b/c the dull on hard ice....( and I dont loan anything :) )
cool use of the card though ..

the way I see it, this is no different than the idea of expensive, cool knives using/buying, when I can use very well what I already have...
Why do I have 30 knives +, and still need more ?
Why do I enjoy using the Izula from my pocket and not just the knife laying on the table ?
Why do I open my beer with my HEST ?
...you get the point ...

I guess this year you actually got to use them didn't you? It's been a bad winter all around this year.

I have family in South Texas (Mission), and it got down into the 30's there. I rode my bike out to visit them between Christmas and New Years and when I left out on the 2nd, it was in the low 40's. Funny thing was, a couple days earlier it was mid-80's.

I know 40* is 40*, but it just seems colder in Texas at that temp than it does here in GA.

After looking back at my post, it reads like I was trying to be a smarta*$. That wasn't the intention, I was just curious.

I actually keep a blockbuster video card in my wallet for scraping ice, and to open doors at my house when I get locked out, which happens pretty regularly because I have a 2 and 5 year old that likes to play games on daddy.

2010 feb 2ft of snow & some ice
2011 just Ice and little snow 6" 20's the high for 7-9 days and wind chill -5 coldest I remember in over 18years :D

cool...most any card in a wallet will do the trick, i guess. i never used to carry an ice scraper since i'm in AZ. although i hate not having one when i go to the mountains in the winter.

i have my ESEE business card in a spot that jumps out at me. before i'd have been scared of using it to scrape ice...not any more!

I've scraped many windshields with my good old credit card, and broke a few while in the process due to really thick ice.

I thankfully haven't had to use a card for scraping ice, but I have heard of other people using one to do so! Glad it worked for you and you made it to the station and home safe :)

Oh there are many uses for those cards! came in handy several times.
Just the other day I was getting my bike ready for spring. If you put 2 of the nav cards together? It's the same size as the spark plug gap on my FZR 600
and if you put 4 0f them together...they are perfect for spacing bathroom tiles.

Awesome. I've used my Safeway card like that as well. No, I'd never use my DL or other "valuable" card. The lamination strips off my DL pretty easily and I'd hate to crack/bend or lose a "good" card in the snow.
