Ok, we don't call it that. For years I have thought about ordering one of those A.G. Russell Woodswalker knives you see in his catalogue. My new Izula II is filling that role. I have never had a small fixed blade I liked so much. This handy little knife is just right for a morning walk. Could skin a squirrell with it, too. I have always been a folding knife guy, but this is one fixed blade that I can carry anywhere. Love it! :D

I just put my name of the list for the Izzy II forum knife...

Thanks to your reviews (and others) I have to get one now.

:)

Would love to get my hands on one. The grip on the Izula 1 is perfect.
This should be a lovely piece for the harder working jobs!

Well Joe, I really don't like neck knives or skeleton handled knives. I got rid of every single one I ever bought. But this little Izula II just feels great in my hand. I can carry it in my pocket or clipped to my belt or water bottle. Go ahead and get the one with the kit. I ended up ordering a belt clip for mine. Most times when just out for a little walk, I don't use a knife. But it's great to have one with me that is so usable should the need arise. You won't regret buying this one. It's a user.

Very cool.

I've gotten rid of most of my knives.

Trying to keep only the ones I use, which is why I was having a hard time deciding whether to get an Izula II.

But I think you're right, looks like a great user to me.

AG's Woodswalker is still one of my favorite knives.

There's nothing out there that can fill that role for me, that's why I have 5 of them.

Damn it Horn Dog, you're nearly making me regret replacing the 4 and not getting the Izula II. Not so much for the woods here though as for an urban knife that would work well in the bush on the days I go back and forth, and for a stout knife to keep in a kit. I know I don't need it...I have the HEST I carry most often and an Izula, a 3MIL, an Eskabar, and a BK-11 that all fill that role well and are in various bags and camera kits to make sure I have one handy if I go after photos on the fly. But your pics of the I-2 are starting to wear me down. May have to get one and gift one of the others before it's over with...as soon as I recover from the 2K in property taxes...

No offense to Mr. Russell, he has several designs I do like. But one of the things I really like about ESEE knives is the slight radius of the spine from pommel to tip that puts the blade at a down angle from the handle in an overhand grip. After years of swinging a hammer this is the style that is most comfortable on my wrist in multiple grips and uses. The up-angle of the W.W. blade would drive me nuts in a short period of time.

The Woodswalker is really just a paring knife. Same shape and same thickness but it's a better steel than the standard kitchen offerings (AUS-6) and it had a nice, comfortable full tang handle.

It's hell on fish and small game and does a great job on all the finer slicing tasks I need it for. It's also my knife of choice for cutting out my ingrown toenails. :D

It's not stout or heavy duty in the least but it's got it's niche and fills it perfectly.

Well, the two knives I use the most are the big chef's knife and little paring knife. I can see how such a blade would be good for "woods walking".

I have two of the AG Russell Woodswalker knives. It is rare day I go afield without one of 'em.
