Greetings you all:)

For as long as I can remember my late Dad an Grampa always carried a Sodbuster from Herder Solingen.
About a good 30 years ago my first knife was a Herder Sodbuster.
And just for the sake of remembering both of them I wanted a Sodbuster again.
However these days Herder makes the handle twice as thick as they used to and the knife will probably feel like a 2 by 4 in your pocket. And I don't like their wood either.

So I wanted to try a Case Sodbuster. However ordering in the States these days costs more than the actual cost of the knife itself.

Suddenly I remebered a German site; wolfster.de.
And they appeared to carry a rather large selection of Case knives.
Amongst it they had a yellow handled Sodbuster Jr in CV.

Got it in today and I like it very much. Good fit and finish and zero wobble.
Not shaving sharp, but after some "whittling" on my Spyderco pocket stone it shaved hair.

And the funny thing is: every time I open the knife it looks like an "old friend" already being shiny and all.
Feels great in the hand.
Just a No Nonsense pocket knife.

Don't think I am going to force the patina on this one.
I just put a thin film of Ballistol on the blade an put it in my pocket.
We will see what happens over time.

I think we will get along just fine; my new "old friend" and I ;)

Glad you found what you wanted without having to pay all the involved shipping and such. A Case CV soddie will develop a patina over time...forcing the patina just doesn't seem right.

Hmmm, I don't know dutch, a yellow handle sodbuster with a shiney blade.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like there's almost something un-natural about that. Almost an oxymoron. Like military intellegence.

I admit I may be a tad prejudiced, but to me a yella handle should hold a nice soft greyish blade, or even a nice irridesent blueish grey if its seen a lot of fish and game. I love the blue tint from the acids in the blood and fish guts.

But a yella soddie with a shiney blade, I hafta think on this one.(Scratches head and puts hat back on.)

Oh, congrats on the new soddie.:D

The Case Sodbuster is a very comfortable knife to use.

A 'forced patina' is like a 'bleached blond.' Let yours develop over time and it will just be a natural effect of it's life. Enjoy!

Didn't like it that shiney after all.
So as we speak the blade is wrapped in a piece of cloth moistured with vinegar :p
