In recent posts things have gotten out of control. WANNA be banned from posting all together.
Keep trolling!

I just came on the forum after reading them yesterday . Things went to crap. Kit closed two threads. We havent had these problem before and we wont tolerate them now. This is a friendly forum about building knives.

Once again post pics if you want in moderartion. Have a great time. Talk about most anything you want.

Trolling will not be tolerated!

This forum is for information and education about building knives. Your personal BS and opinion about how this forum is ran is not wanted and is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. If you dont like what goes on here then get out! Take your trolling eleswhere. Zero tolerance from this point on.

Indeed, despite over 3000 posts, Tom Mayo is still a Troll!! Need soem evidence? How many swiss cheese knife pics have we seen? SHEESH!

Good thread DDR. Trolling in Shop Talk seems like a contradiction.

We couldnt ban Tom
He has great power from the holes he has stolen for the super market swiss cheese people. He is in negotation right now with Kraft. He is getting a royalty for each hole in the tnt that he drills.
He wont sell them to them at any cost. !

Not to come on to strong but trolls are trolls.
They are just folks who stir the pot and sit back a laugh about it.
Its easy when your behind a computer.
Being brave without having to being whacked is simple.
Yes it is a oxymoron for trolls to be in ST!

Kit has a execution line at his house.
We'll just have them snactched in the middle of the night and shot.

Two thumbs up for Darrel and a Hooraaa !!

I would like to say (without it sounding to much like kissing the fatty end) That I do believe its a privilege that we have some of the most talented knife makers in America expressing thier opinion and giving advice and feedback to this group. I said the same thing here

http://www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum4/HTML/002666.html

Being old enough to remember Pre computer, pre internet and early internet I remember when I had a subscription to EVERY knife mag available so I could glom info. And then it was usually the "fit for popular consumption" info. Meaning a lot of fluff and not much content. I remember as well when it was only rec knives. Good but still lacking.

Here we have a forum and a larger venue (Bladeforums) where guys who beat, cut and otherwise figure out how to make cool sharp shinny things at our pleasure ... Guys who make a living out of making kydex and leather sheaths as well ..

http://www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum67/HTML/000511.html

sharing info so you can make one yourself ?!?!?

Being a craftsperson of another type I appreciate them being here and sharing. Im by no means a butt kiss ... but I know when to know I have a good thing. Thanks to Bruce and ALL the others so gracious with thier knowledge. Even if I dont want to make a knife or sheath at least I know what Qualities I want to look for and spend my money more intelligently.
I would hate to see one of these artisians run off ( the bread and butter of this forum ) Because of someone that can contribute far less.

My thanks to all with the knowledge I dont yet possess. Good riddance to anyone who cant appreciate it.

Nowadays I pretty much just hang out at ShopTalk and the Custom Forums, mainly because they are friendly and constructive. You all have my vote of confidence- do whatever you need to do to keep things running the way they are.

I'm with Richard and Boriqua on this one. I come here and to the custom forums for exactly the same reasons. This is such an incredible resource and it shouldn't be taken for granted. It didn't take me long to find these two sections on BFC and these are the only two that I spend any amount of time on because they are the most worthwhile of the lot.

I refused to read the troll's post that got locked because I didn't think it was wise to waste a single bit of my time and energy on it. I wish others had done the same.

Thanks Darrel!
Although I only take spells of posting here I do lurk a lot and I really appreciate all the posts that the makers and shakers of the knife world post here.
And _all the pix_ that's posted here.
As it's been said before by people more qualified than myself, Bruce has always been of the best reputation here.
And I for one appreciate the tutorials that Bruce has posted as well as the tips that ther makers and shakers choose to post freely.
All of the makers here give me encouragement even though my knife making attempts are few and far between due to health reasons.
I say to all of them Hurrah!!! And keep up the good work.

Many thanks,

Personally....I think a lot of this stuff should be DELETED instead of being LOCKED... the locking of a bs thread just causes more controversy.....JUST make it disappear and EMAIL the offender and give him/her a warning.

Have a nif day!

I gather trolling is bad. Why don't you tell us poor saps what trolling is so we can avoid it!

Nikk, a troll is someone who starts trouble and fans the flames as they go. I suspect most of them got beaten up a lot in high school.
I've found a lot of them are kids who just want to talk tough. It's like making abusive calls. You can be pretty tough from the end of a wire.
On some boards it can be amusing to fight with them. This is not one of those boards. People who share a common interest come here to exchange ideas, learn and just enjoy the company of others.

Thanks Darrel! I thought I was new enough to BladeForums that I must have missed this kind of pointless banter and commercial posting in past years. I started thinking things like: "Do I really want to be a part of this?" Some how egos and self-interest took over too many threads. I agree with Tom about deleting posts outright. Some of the stuff I've been seeing looks more like adolescent chat room crap or an unexpected visit to a maker's website. Looks like we need Mom to straighten us out.

I dont feel there is a damned thing wrong with a little banter once in a while .
I feel there is a limit. We are adults and we all have are pet issues that piss us off.
Hell its part of being a human. If its anything like the way I feel when I spout off to someone it haunts you afterwords if you feel like a butt.
Thats what drives normal folks to be more cautious the next time. There is nothing wrong with being human.

There is a problem when it becomes a prank to get folks riled up.

We all read through the lines every day and
take some things in stride.

Lets have fun, whine a little from time to time and enjoy what we learn in a professional manner.

I agree with you all about the deleting part but Darrel and I (or any moderator on BF.com)don't have that power. We have to email Spark who does have the power. Some of you old hands here may remember a few months back and recall why it was taken away from all of us. I'm okay with it, I guess. If I could delete posts, Tom would always be wondering where his were

(That was a mild form of light bantering between makers)

Whatever happened to:

+ Whats the best steel?

+ Should I hollow or flat grind this?

+ Is it worth my while to get this micarta stabilized?

+ Can I use the metal from my refrigerator to make a blade?

+ Which is best, stock removal or forging?

+ Looking for a 2-72 tap, uh sorry Chiro75, just pokin' fun!

Boy can a guy get into trouble just trying to say "hey look what I did" and see what others think of the idea
biggrin.gif

I will be more careful of how many pic's I use from now on....Is it coshure to reply back to someone that askes if a knife is for sale or not,or should I not do that on the post and just email that person instead.I don't use this forum as a selling forum just a show off and ask and answer question forum.
I need to know from the Moderatores,Have I really done something wrong here or Was I just TROLL SLIMMED.
