well,
I dont have much knowledge in the world of screws (read: none) but im wanting to learn about different thread sizes, screw sizes etc...

anyone know where to find info on this kind of thing?
im wanting to learn so i will know how to do a hidden tang knife with a metal pommell, and attaching scales on full tang blades...

can anyone help me out here?

thanks in advance,
mo

btw-yes i do know about pinning, and how to pin...just trying to expand my knowledge a little bit.

Mo,
For screw sizes and such, Bob Warner has a great chart on his site here. For more detailed info, search "screws" at eFunda.
For descriptions and uses of different screws, McMaster-Carr has very good info in their on-line catalog.
Find screws and then select the type; the catalog page will have info about the item and possible uses.
Regards,
Greg

And now I'll throw in a monkey wrench and add taps and dies to the mix. If you want to do a hidden tang, a good way go about it is to thread the end of the tang, and then drill and tap the pommel to match it. You can find matching sets of taps, drills and dies at hardware and auto parts stores. They're not real hard to use.

thanks guys.
matt-yeah,ive seen taps and dies in use,and looks pretty simple to use..
