I'd like to know how the Endura has evolved: how it was designed and what it looked like at first, and what changes were made through the years. I'd also like to see a pic. of what it looks like today.

I know that the steel has gone from GIN-1 to AUS-8 to ATS-55. That's the extent of my knowledge on the subjext. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Specialization is for insects.

The Endura came about from the desire to have a smaller, lightweight version of the popular Police C07. The original endura handle was shaped similar to the police's, and featured a "Volcano Grip" pattern on one side and a molded-in clip on the other side (carrying the knife tip up). For '98, spyderco wanted to update this model by reshaping the rear end of the handle, adding the new steel clip that could be switched to accommodate left handed and right handed users. They also went with a new Volcano Grip pattern (done on both sides of the handle)that is more aggressive. That's about it (I think!)

Clay is correct with the progression of blade steels for this model.

This thread belongs on the Spyderco Forum right here at this website.

Pics of just about anything currently in production are available at various dealers' sites, especially www.knifecenter.com , and at the manufacturers' websites, in this case www.spyderco.com

One minute at a search engine such as www.profusion.com is worth hours of waiting after posting a question about where to find something.
