Yes I know the knife is an Ontario Rat3 but I decided that before I mess up a perfectly good RC knife I would experiment with one that is expendable. So I used one of my old Ontario knives to play around with. The photos aren't to good but I think I like the brown earth tone for the scales. I know it wouldn't be a good color if you drop it in the woods but I still like it. I think I will make the bluing a little darker. And yes, I used a cold bluing process so as not to effect the temper. Anyway I must have been really bored huh?

What I really want is a RC 4 to match my Lyman 54 cal. Muzzleloader. That's why the bluing and the stock is a walnut. I doubt if I ever will get micarta scales that color so I might have to switch to wood handle. Once I get a proto type that looks right then I will do an RC 4 as the real thing.. Don't even ask why ...LOL .. cause I don't know why.
