Explanation, please!

I don't understand. Tonight, there were two 3rd Version 110s on the famous auction site. One was probably an 8th Variation in what appeared to be excellent condition. The other was a 1st Variation that was in poor condition: the blade was not in great shape and the rear bolsters were separated. The 1st Version sold for more than twice as much as the 8th Version. Age is always a factor, but condition is important. I think the 8th Version went for below value, and the 1st Version sold for greater than value. Give me an explanation. - Bert
 
Different guys looking and wanting it. Perhaps someone needed that version to fill a spot in his collection. I agree sometimes it doesn't make sense. DM
 
Must be something in the air. I had a few knives that weren't Bucks , on my watch list, and they ended today. I have a good idea what they normally go for, but there were two knives, that had winning bids that were complete absurd.
