Hi. Anybody have any info or experiences with Extrema Ratio Knives? They are Italian, and seem well-made. I'm VERY interested in the tiger-stripe one.

Did a search here on the forums, but the most recent info I found was about 2-3 years old. Want to see if anyone has any more current info on them.

Anybody have one they want to sell?

Thanks!

drjones!

I have had quite a bit of experience with these knives as I am the US Distibutor. I have put these knives, the Harpoon & T2000, thru quite a bit of abuse and they have held up well. They hold an edge very well and the handles are a dream, especially when wet. I even tested them with my hands bloody (cow blood)and the handle did not slip at all.
With the N690 Cobalt Stainless Steel there doesn;t seem to be a rust problem either.
Please look at the article in the July issue of "Tactical Knives" (it is already out) and I think most of your questions will be answered.
You can also visit my website www.target-masters.net for additional information.
Feel free to call if you need further info!

The published composition of N690 Cobalt Stainless Steel is identical to VG10. Maybe they should state that as many users are already familiar with VG10.

I'm somewhat confused how their handle bonds to the tang. Is it a one-piece handle or two pieces glued together, do they use pins?

Could you get some different pictures of the knives on your web site?

I would like to see better quality shots of the handles particularly. Also inclued pictures of the spine thumb rest area.

Do you have any of the Yellow Bladed models? I couldnt decipher the information posted on your site.

Thanks

How about a picture with the knife in a hand?

I am just trying to get a better idea about these handles.

"L" King,

I have lots of different pictures but I do not have room on my website as it is designed. Maybe I can email you some direct.

The "yellow" knife is not available and is no longer made.

I have a Extrema Ratio T 2000 S Tiger Tech Camo version. I purchased it from Frank at Target Masters. It really is a well made knife.

Tha handle material is somewhat strange. It is much different when compared to what we would normally see. I'm not sure how the manufacturing process works but it appears as if the tang could be placed inside a mold and then this rubber type compound is poured into the mold and allowed to bond thus forming the handle.
Although it is different, it does appear quite durable.

I am glad you like your knife! I think you are on the right track with the way the handle is attached. I will be at the Exrema Ratio factory in Italy next week and I will find the correct wording for the process. I will let all of you know. If you, or anybody, has particular questions about the knives let me know and I will find the answers.

I have shipped quite a few knives to Ranger units and few to SEAL Teams. They are trying threi best to tear 'em up, I have had excellent reports so far.

The handles are made from a high tech polymer (Italians call it CFP). It is different than what we in the States are used too. As I mentioned it was spec'd out by the Italian SF and they wanted the most slip free hadle they could get. I think it works well!!

Hi Frank. It would be interesting to find out about the handle making process. I'm thinking that it has to be some type of polymer that is heated and then poured or injected into a mold that contains the tang portion of the knife. When the polymer cools it forms a nice knife handle.
It appears that after the mold process is finished the guys/girls at the factory then trim away some of the excess of this material (especially the notch area of the spine).

Who knows? I may be absolutely wrong, but it appears that it could be done in that manner.
