Has any more though been given to an F.A.Q? I think this would be of great benefit for the forum. It could be posted to the top of the forum like the "ground rules" are in the auto forum next door.

I know it easy for me to say this as it will obviously not fall to me to make it up. I would, however, be happy to help with it in anyway I could!

Any one else have any thoughts on it?

I am working my way through building a site that will contain an interactive faq, it should be up sometime soonish...

I'm very serious about persuing this type of thread - Tony and I have corresponded about the marking and identification of older PC / BM bali's. It appears as though there is no verifiable data extant. IMO, this would be a good topic to include in a FAQ thread.

Sign me up. We've posted plenty of opinions about all aspects of the bali within this forum, so it's a matter of searching back. Also, given how many various useful links already exist, the F.A.Q. doesn't need to be fully writen out. A url link to those sites will do plenty.
For example: Clay's tip on repinning.

Ouch: We should be able to nearly complete that PC/BM database. It's not like we don't own enough PC/BM balis' between all of us to pull that off.

Tony -- I'm sure that the marking issue could be clarified and resolved easily if you major collectors had a meeting, say in the central US -- make it at Dudley's place. I'd definately be there. I'd also be carrying adoption papers for you, Dudley , Chuck, etc. to sign !! :) Seriously, this forum has the most knowlegable folks in the Bali world. This marking issue could easily be handled, time permitting. If I can help, please let me know. Thanks

Really good ideas.., and of course it's been touched on peripherally before by several of us. I do think a well thought out "FAQ" design with relative links and some commentary could be pulled off over the next year without too much pain.

As Tony mentioned, I'd guess 85% of it is done in an archival sense, so it's just a metter of organizing it. I'm sure everyone would pitch is as much as possible.

I'd be a bit cautious about just putting links into an FAQ. FAQs are generally an enduring thing. But web links come and go. A few years from now, the wonderful FAQ might be just another collection of 404s.

If we do a nice job, we can probably get it added to the FAQ collection here at bf.c, which is pretty significant.

It'll do as a starting point, as the FAQ will always be a work in progress. I have no doubt that some new comers will surprise us with questions never brought up before, and those answer eventually find their way into the FAQ.

As with anything on the web these days, the FAQ's weblinks would share the same exposure as the sharing of links between common websites. The added advantage would be that here, on this forum, if a weblink goes out, we'll: 1) Have a greater chance of catching it sooner; 2) Have backup links available, or if necessary, have all the pages of the links in the FAQ residing on a mirrored site. We've already had some offers to mirror sites. It'll then be a matter of the original webmaster to "relinquish" control and be willing to allow those pages to be copied. And we can let each webmaster determine how their pages will be updated.
