OK guys, I get nothing from the sale of this knife, but let me give you my two cents worth having handled this particular piece. . . . . This is one of three pieces in Tami's extensive collection that I really lusted after. One was the CQC7A and the other was his Rhino.

This all black CQC8 is a real winner. Perfect. The only way it could be better would be if it had a wave.

Just so you know, there is at least one more out there. My friend that recently received the ES1M that I asked some questions about has one that looks exactly that. I had no idea that the contoured scale were so special. He has had the knife for about 4 years. I am not willing to post his name here but if John, Tami or some other Emerson guru wants to email me I will give you enough info to verify the knife's existince. lhc9185@hotmail.com

Thanks although not necessary. One of the great attributes of this forum is the ability to reach LOTS of people w/ minimum
effort. In the past alot of Customs were made in clusters of 3,5,10. So, I suspected there were some out there. Nothing confirmed at that point and now we know. But having 1of 3 or 1 of 5 is still fairly rare.

Yeah, a 1 of 3 or 1 of 5 from Emerson is very rare. My experience with knives that Ernie says he has only made 3 or 4 of has been that they are very rare indeed.
For example, Tactical Persian. Tamishigiri has seen one other available and that is the only other sighting that I know of. Another is the CF-3 Trident again a knife that only one or two other AVID collectors have ever admitted to seeing.
