FAA allows knives for checked baggage

I spoke to my airline because I am going to be flying the end of this week.

They said knives are fine in checked baggage as long as they are declared when the bags are checked.

I plan on placing a Victorinox Classic off my keychain into the checked luggage at the Check in Counter. That way I can declare the bag to contain knives without necessarily making it a target for thievery.

and there was no problem. I checked my knives. Security was extremely tight. My carry on bag went through the x-ray machine 3 times and was searched because they thought they saw a nail clipper. I walked through 2 x-ray machines and was frisked and they passed a handheld device of some sort over my whole body.
