Please don't just say fatwood my favorite wood for fuzz sticks its pine. Smells good easy to work with and takes a spark easy

SPF ( spruce,pine,fir)
They're usually full of pitch also. Cedar is good also. Avoid the dust.

Almost all the forestry in not more than 80 years, where the majority is since the State, which is about to be 64.
And all of the planted forests are managed
There is always scrap cut branches laying around they were not cleared up
So SPF (spruce, pine, fir) in the forests and Eukaliptus by the roads up here in the north

There are small local oaks and wild carob, almonds and fig trees but these are never cut

Dry wood :D

No id say pine. Easy to work with and plentiful in my area. Not to mention that it usually has a bit of fatwood splinters inside somewhere and it makes building a fire that much easier.

Dead willow works incredibly well for me. The wood is so soft that its easy to make small shavings, and it catches pretty well.

Yeah. Dry pine w/ fatwood layers. Not to mention that it looks like bacon and burns like bacon.
