Feather-Lite Survival Knife ?

I had an idea when I was hiking today and just wondered what everyone else thought !

My most carried blade is now my Booshway but sometimes I feel the need for something to pair with it that is thin and super sharp.
I then got to thinking that this knife could also be a stand alone knife as well, not something to baton and pry with but one that would cut up your fish, skin a squirrel, make feather sticks and strike a ferro-rod etc.

My idea was to have a smallish knife outta 3/32" stock. The handle section would have a cut-out that would house a ferro-rod blank. Now if this was mine I would then secure some cotton pads ( Tinder ) to the handle over the ferro rod with some waxed Jute ( More tinder or cordage ). I would then wrap the handle with Gorilla tape to keep water out and hold it all together. In an emergency the handle could be peeled open and you have some great dry tinder and the means to light it.

The knife would likely have a small simple Kydex sheath that could be carried round the neck, in the pocket or secured to your main knife with ranger bands.

Here is the sort of thing I had in mind......

17 views and not one reply, guess I'm on my own with this idea, LOL !!!:D

Try the idea over in another forum? I could build one to see what the response would be....

hi I like the idea of a light and sharp little knife but I think ferrorod ´d be better in the kydex shealth ;-)

will bite if I may with a few comments/suggestions. in hopes I can be a beta tester? =)

What I like:
Integrated slot for rod
slim design
multi small task functions.

I think you are limiting yourself however, as this looks like the start of a perfect EDC/Bug out knife. A slightly stouter material would allow for more robust tasks like batoning and if the end was extended slightly a pry tip/glass break could be made there. A shorted rod area would be fine and allow you to make a sort of bolster with the handle to the rod that fits up onto the knife when not used. Holding a plain rod can be a slippery task.
Then a few lashing points up front and along the handle to the end which would allow for a paracord wrap for the handle securing the rod in place and providing grip or cord when needed. A simple 1 strand over/under wrap would allow for a good amount of cord to be carried. I don't think this would add too much weight and the added features would out weight the negative I think. Perhaps overkill but a bottle opener could be worked into the pry end or under where the rod is too ;-)
I know I am talking about making a knife that might not be on your original plan, so forgive me and I am happy to remove this if it is disruptive etc.
I butchered your drawing hope you don't mind.
