Now that's a knife Mate!

What kind of tree is the one in the third to the last photo? The one with the brown center? Looks like he made it cry....;)

Late last year, I talked to Bill about making me a survival type Kephart. My idea was to take the traditional Kephart blade shape, but add length to the blade, contour the scales, and add a skull crusher pommel. I gave Bill the design and he exceeded all expectations of the final product. The blade is 6", overall lenghth is 11 1/8", and it's 1/8" thick (1095). I asked for a convex edge on this blade and what I got is one of the sharpest blades I have ever seen in my life. Bill was repeatingly slicing through newspaper and thin magazine paper. But the absolute kicker was when we took it out in the woods and was effortlessly slicing right though small trees as you can see from the pictures that Bill posted. Bill actually took the knife and was chopping down a tree that was fairly thick. He kept slammin' the edge of the blade into the tree with a ton of force. To me, this was gonna be a true test to see how the edge holds up to the severe beating we were inflicting on this blade. After chopping and slicing trees for quite a while, we again tried the blade on thin magazine paper. Good gracious........that blade went through the paper as easy as it did after it was first sharpened. No dings, nicks, dents, or chips on the edge.

I have dubbed this behemoth the "BSK" Backwoods Survival Kephart (or "Badass Skull Krusher"...:D). I can't thank Bill enough for bringing this blade to life and for putting the most jaw-dropping convex on this beast. Awesome job brother!! By the way, I'll leave out the part of Bill testing out the "skull crusher" on my ribs......LOL:p
