There are some INCREDIBLE photos scattered about the fiddleback forum in various threads. Let’s see the best – from a photography perspective – regardless of ‘thread category’. If you can’t pick just one (I know it’s impossible) try to keep your pics to a minimum – like five or less – so as not to blow up the thread.

Get into your photo memory bank and post your best/forum favs. If you post someone else’s photo, you must provide a link to their post and/or give proper credit. But please don’t be shy about showing off your own stuff. This is not a competition, just an attempt to compile some of the best photos on the forum.

    Some of my best/forum favs:

An OSL recently showed up on my doorstep (thank you Abe, certain things are meant to be). I put the knife on our dining room table and snapped an iPhone pic of my new steak knife. When I looked at the phone I instantly realized it was one of my best (amateur as it may be) – hence, the inspiration for this thread.

I received a message yesterday from @jaz322 asking me to dig up some of my old Shadetree photos that were lost in the big Photobucket ransom disaster. I searched my home computer and chose the following ones to share here.

I believe this is the first of my “watermelon knifeblock” photos. The yellow melon provided a nice color contrast to all the burlap colors.

My Shadetree “rainbow” added a few colors by the time yellow watermelons were in season again the next year. Mostly Fiddlebacks here with a couple by Todd Hunt and one by Jarrett Fleming.

Here is a Duke I had with the rare Electric Orange burlap. This knife belongs to a special friend now.

A couple of years ago, Shadetree made some layered multicolor burlaps. What I learned about those is that the knife maker must be careful to not go too thin on the handle shaping so that the top color doesn’t disappear on the finished handle. The photo below shows how it is supposed to be done. Dylan Fletcher really nailed it on my Esteban II with Red, White, & Blue burlap.

My Shadetree collection today is a shadow of what it once was as I have culled my knives down to a smaller group of mostly favorite users. The majority of those are still burlap because it looks great while offering a grippy texture.

This is a cool idea for a thread. Thanks for starting it Jason.

    Great idea for a thread!

I rented a 56mm f1.2 lens for my fuji xt2 awhile back and took these one day while playing in the woods.

Thanks P! That's a Fanger in one eighth TT A2 with OD micarta bolster and Bog Oak scales that I was lucky enough to snag from Bladeco.:)

I really can't choose my best pic - especially after losing most of my photo files in a recent computer hard-drive meltdown. At this point I only have access to those few that I saved once I made the switch to Fotki. Some of my best pics have been lost to the ravages of technological failure, or Photobucket hell.

While far from my best pics, I've always loved these.
