After quite a long break from knifemaking because everything seemed to go wrong I got the knifemaking fever again :D.

This morning I engaged a project on which I had a lot of problems on working the handle. It was laying around for about 2 months.

Making a handle with bolsters is a lot more difficult then I expected it to be.
But I hope that I'll master this with practice.

The handle is not as I wanted it in the beginnig and I tried to save what was left to save after my terrible tries 2 months ago.

I also made the sheath today, it's my fourth one and I like leatherwork more and more.

Here are the specs and pics:

Overalllength: 28 cm
Blade: 16 cm
Steel: 4 mm 1.2842 (similar to O2)
Griff: SS and australien Burlwood

I like it, whatever you messed up on it, do it again. Nothing wrong with that one.

As far as I can see there's absolutely nothing wrong with this one. Your troubles with knifemaking are clearly over. Carry on, son!! :) :)

I suspect you set yourself some very high standards !!! That is a beautiful knife. I am wondering, but I think some of your "mistakes" might not look too bad either !!

That looks like Jarrah burl. Did it have a lot of voids in it that had to be filled ? Good work. You are really talented ! Jason.

Beautiful knife, I like the shape and overall design and that sheath is wonderful. You do excellent work !!!!!

The filework is very good looking, and quite unique. Do not think that I have seen any similar. Keep at it, you are doing well.

Thanks a lot guys, that means a lot to me coming from you.

I guess it's just the way Jason said. Somehow you're always more sever in judging when it comes to your own work. Or is it just me ?

I definitely want to improve on fit and finish in future. My first knive sales really help me in achieving that aim. A disc sander and some good fine grit sanding paper are next on my To-Buy list :). I hope that one day I'm able to make a knive I'm pleased with myself :D.

I also hope that a friend of my brother how's going to South Africa for a year can get me a good source for bones and stuff from Africa :).

@ Jason:
I looked it up and the wood is supposed to be Red Mallee burl. It's pretty dense and there were actually no voids. To be described as talented by you makes me one happy knifemaking youngster :D .

Thanks again for your comments.

Marcus
