I'm told I put this in the wrong forum. Sorry..I'm new at this site. Anyway..
I do only minor filework on my knives. I'd like to learn lots more about this. Does
anyone know if there are any books or info
on this subject? I see some beautiful work out there but can't figure out how it's done. I'm looking for information on the tools (files) needed and most definately, the technique. Some of my clumsy attempts at filework can be seen on my website at www.voicenet.com/~edknives
Thanks ED

The best way is just doing it. I use a dremal
with carbide cutters that I buy from a supply
house. The inverted cone is a good cutter . You can make nice thin cuts with it . I also use straight cuters to do radius's . Files such as a screw slotting file (brownells) are very handy for starting slots and to make precision cuts. It just takes looking at the patterns then doing then. Then making your own patterns. Try to find knife books with the old sheffield patterns in them . These knives had a load of file worked backspines on them .
