First off, thank you guys for being the primary push for me springing for this thing. All the pictures, all the conjecture, and all the praises sung about this thing really made me want it. Seeing its size relative to other knives is what gave me comfort in buying a blade I'd actually use. The 0560 is just too much knife for me to buy for anything other than a collector piece.

That being said, I've been playing with this thing all day, attempting to start the break in process to soften the travel up a bit. So far, it's pretty good.

I stuck the black ZT clip on her, for lefty carry of course.

I'm in love with this thing, seriously. It has to be one of the best production pieces in existence right now.

Sticktodrum-were did you get the black clip? or what model knife did it come from? I've been wanting one for my 560 as well as for my 550. Thanks, Eric

Looks like he swapped it with his 200 in the first pic :)

Kreole- I was so fixed on the black clip, never noticed the other kinfe......thanks

you shoulda got a 551 on the exchange for around the same price, more collectible and the elmax is slightly better IMO :p either way good purchase. Have you held a 560 yet? you should give it a shot, yeah its bigger but it weighs the same and is thinner, plus with the deep carry clip it hides good and doesnt feel any bigger in pocket than the 551 IMO, but the scaring the people factor is definitely greater with the 560.

I had the chance to get the 0551, and I knew that if I did, I'd have another item that I wouldn't want to use as much, considering its limited production. It's just a mental tick of mine I guess, so I went with the regular 0550, as I wouldn't have much reserve about using it roughly.

I was looking at the 0560 also, as I'm a sucker for flippers, and the thing looks gorgeous, but the sheer length (both closed and open) makes it just a bit too much for any kind of regular use. These kinds of blades will be quite at home on my camping trips, but being able to use the 0550 for more than that is something that really sold me on the stubbier model.

Thanks for all the kind words guys, and yes the clip did come from the 0200. I actually swapped it back with the silver clip. I like the contrast on the black G10 scale. :)

I changed mine to a yellow handle you know a little less tactacool and all that, really impressed with the 0550

This will be my next knife after owning a 560 I think the 550 is more my style. The 560 is a awesome piece but I think some of us prefer the heavier knives. My brain knows the 560 is tough but I'm put off by the froward weight bias luckily both models exist. I just wish there was a flipper version

:( So I'm sending the 0550 in for warranty service. The threads in the tip-up, left-side carry placement (into the G10/steel liner) stripped the clip screws, as well as an extra pair of clip screws I had that I tried to replace the original ones with. The other placements seem alright, and I'm fairly certain I hadn't cross threaded them, since I've changed clip placement enough to carefully handle delicate screws.

*sigh* I'll be sad to be without this thing, I had really gotten attached to it.

Yep, I can see why you are having your affair with her.:D I understand what you mean about reading in here....lol..it's like they "pull you in" and before you know it you're ordering the knife. It will be a happy day for myself when I get mine. Congrats on the sweet piece.

I love my 551. Its perfect size for daily carry and use. I liked the 560 alot but i carry in my right rear pocket and the deep carry clip made the knife bottom out in some of my pocketsbefor the clip was fully clipped onto the pocket. Plus it makes it harder to grab quickly. I like my k ife to stick out a bit for easy grab, and living in Texas i never need to fully conceal my knives.

I love my 0551 and my 0561... The 0551 seems to be in my pocket more though. Think i'm to nervous to carry the 0561 which makes no sense since it didnt really cost that much more then the 0551. I like everything about both of them, but that 0551 is just hard to beat.. Especially with that Hinderer Olive Drab Scale.. pure awesome

Mc556 I thought the same thing about wishing it was a flipper, however I find that the thumbstud is much quicker and natural to deploy than using my index finger pulling back on the flipper. My Sebbie does not come close to the ease of opening as does the 0550. I also have the ZT 0560 and still find myself using the thumbstub for opening. I don't want to hyjack the thread by comparing the thumbstud vs flipper, God knows we have tossed this around on the forum enough.
I've held my 0550 side by side to my XM 18 and I think the ZT 0550 is on par with it, after all Rick had alot to do with the design. I agree for the money the 0550 is an outstanding value. I still like my Hinderers, sebbies, Zts flippers and thumbstuds. I'm so thankfull that we have all these choices!
