Is anyone else having problems with Firefox 3? Ever since Firefox auotmatically upgrade to 3 on my desktop it doesn't work right. I haven't used my laptop since last September and when I turned it on tonight Firefox upgraded. Now it won't load.

I tried the troublshooting stuff and it doesn't fix anything. I uninstalled it, downloaded another copy and reinstalled it. Same thing. This sucks!:grumpy:

Nevermind....I uninstalled Firefox on my laptop, deleted everything I could find that had anything to do with Firefox and reinstalled it. It seems to be working fine now. I still can't get it to work right in my desktop. 1 out of 2 ain't bad.

I had a brief problem with the previous version with lots of "failure to load page" errors; I'd have to click the "try again" button several times.
Running the current version (3.0.6) I've had no problems.

They do have a nice user forum....

What sort of problem are you running into on your desktop? I'm running the most recent Firefox beta on a couple machines without problem.

I've noticed a lot of problems since the latest download/upgrade: program stops, hangs, bogs, and really, really sucks. Firefox: fix it!

At first I kept getting a corrupt file message. After I uninstalled and reinstalled it I didn't get the corrupt file message, but I can't save any preferences and it always loads with the Firefox 3 welcome page. If I click on home, it goes to google as it should, but if I close it and load it again it goes to the welcome page.

My laptop is working correctly now. Firefox opens with the google page and saves my preferences.

I had some serious problems with Firefox on my old computer. First, FF2 stopped working entirely. Nothing I tried with uninstalling, deleting, and reinstalling worked. I installed FF3, and I had constant problems with it crashing for no damn reason whatsoever. It could literally be sitting idle, not loading anything, on a blank start-up page, and crash. It also wouldn't bookmark anything new. It had all my old bookmarks, but I couldn't make new ones.

Then the computer went kablewy entirely.

My "new" computer, which is actually a significant downgrade from my already ancient desktop (it cost me $75, and it has what I need to back up my data onto an external HD and get me by until I get a new laptop) runs FF3 fine. Rarely, it will still crash (usually when I have several windows/tabs open), but it's nothing like the problems I had those years ago when I used IE.

After typing all this, I realize that I'm not saying anything useful. The one thing I can conclude, or at least conjecture, is that the problem was never with Firefox itself per se, but rather something else that went wrong (corrupted .dll kernels or something) that prevented FF from running properly. The old computer also had some issue that wouldn't let me download/install certain programs that used a specific installer because of a missing/corrupt .dll or kernel (including Adobe Acrobat and Zone Alarm).

One (or two) thing I can suggest is using the Restore function and go back to a date before you updated Firefox, and try everything all over again. If that doesn't work, perhaps reformat the HD (back your data up first) and reinstall Windows. Drastic, but sometimes it's the only way.

There are some odd conflicts that happen between firefox and XP SP3, If you have a second hard-drive, try installing firefox to it instead of C:
I'm not sure what it is but I think the way system files are accessed changed.

Save your bookmarks and then delete your Profiles folder.

That's part of the problem. It won't let me delete the Profiles folder. I uninstalled Firefox and deleted everything I could find, but there is still something there. When I reinstalled it my bookmarks were still there.

When I get home I'll contact Mozilla and see if I can't get it resolved.

Is Firefox running when you try to delete the Profiles folder?

What does it tell you when you try to delete it?

You should be able to delete it with this program:

When you delete it, you might want to check the registry for entires for Mozilla and Firefox. You can use CCleaner to remove traces or Revo Uninstaller.

You might also find the answer on the forums at mozilla.com. They are a very good tool in troubleshooting.

I finally figured it out. Firefox went berserk. All my bookmarks went away and I could hardly do anything. It was totally screwed up. When I uninstalled it for the 5th time I noticed a box to check asking if I wanted to clear the bookmarks. I checked it and uninstalled everything. After downloading a fresh copy and installing that, it's working perfectly. :D

I'm having some issues too, it keeps hanging and then leaving a zombie process running that takes a reboot to clear. I've a feeling theres a problem with FF3, zonealarm and Vista trying to work together
