Firefox / Yahoo Question

Hi guys,

I have just bought myself a new laptop, and it is running Vista Business. I have avoided Vista so far, and may return to XP, but for now I am trying Vista. My question is, in Mozilla Firefox, how do I get rid of the Yahoo Toolbar, which I don't want. Internet searches suggested the following.

1. Use the "Pencil menu" to get rid of it. I don't have a pencil menu.
2. Use Firefox's Tools menu to locate the extension manager and disable it in the extension manager. My extension manager does not list the Yahoo Toolbar.
3. Use the Control Panel to uninstall it, via the Remove Programs option. Its not listed as a program there.

IS there any other way that I haven't tried, and one more question. Why on Earth wouldn't we call something like this a virus?

You mean through View > Toolbars? Nope, that was the first place I looked.

Cheers, Acolyte.

Go to Control Panel>Programs&Features> Uninstall Yahoo toolbar

You have to be careful when you install many different programs. There is a box that is auto checked unless you uncheck it and it installs the Toolbar.

I had to remove it from my wife's laptop 4 times already!

You can also uninstall it in My Computer by locating the folder for Yahoo and then the uninstall executable file. It should also show up in your Start button under All Programs.

Right click on the browser just above the address bar and uncheck it. Otherwise, you can uninstall firefox and reinstall, but this time don't install the toolbar. Or what the other guy said. . .

Right clicking above the address bar brings up a list of toolbars I can uninstall, but the Yahoo toolbar isn't one of them. And it still isn't visible through the control panel. I still reckon its a virus.

Try this if you haven't already on Firefox:

Tools > Add ons > Extensions. If Yahoo Toolbar is listed, click Uninstall.

It's not listed under View > Toolbars or under Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel? Interesting.

Are any other Yahoo programs listed under the Programs list in Add/Remove?
