We've sold all 50 of the Sifu's that Bob promised us, but we can still get more if you want them.

Remember, this is the first production run, and they will be serial numbered and hand ground, and $10 cheaper than the standard production run MSRP!

Who wants number #51? Now's your chance! http://www.bladeforums.com/store/knives/sifu.html

I love the design of this knife! What a beautiful blade, it sort of reminds me of something that Walter Brend would design. I didn't know that this knife was being designed. My only concern is the size, boy is it big. I know it is much too early to ask this but here goes anyway, with the trend of scaling knives down, IE: mini,is there any chance that this knfe will get scaled down a little. I really like it but I'm not sure how practical it is for everyday carry. Sorry for me I guess

Jeffa, lemme 'splain to ya what's going on here.

This sucker is *primarily* a "California special". Here in Commieland west, we can't get gun carry permits without crazy-extreme effort. Like me, I've sued every cop in sight after two YEARS of getting illegally verbally denied and never seeing the blank apps. And batons of ALL types are straight felony busts.

Anyways. Due to a quirk in our laws, we can conceal any size folder. So if we want *serious* defense and open-carry is out of the question, the megafolder is our best bet.

There are now only THREE decent production megafolders:

Cold Steel Vaquero Grande

Cold Steel large Voyager/Gunsight

Sifu

Of the three, the Sifu is pretty much guaranteed to be a WORLD ahead in quality, needing no funky dremel mods on the lockwork for smooth, reliable opening, nor will it be sensitive to grip positions for lock strength.

Every knifemaker on the planet sells a 4" "tactical folder". There's even a grand total of ONE Mad Dog 4" folder, ever since somebody hired another maker to bastardize a Wombat.

You've got a million choices. I've got a grand total of three, for what I want. And you want REKAT to "scale down" that ONE?

Do you need to ask why I'm not enthused with this prospect?

SHEESH!

Jim, I'm suprised your not buying two and Muskratting them together. Should be pretty easy to do as the handles are pretty flat....

While I see Jim's point, I have to agree with Jeffa. I would love to see a mini Sifu. The blade shape is beautiful and the handle looks good too. It isn't very often that we see a knife that is ergonomic and looks this good. Unfortunately, in Tennessee anything with a blade over 4" is automatically considered a weapon. Not too mention since I pack a pistol I am not in need of the mega-folder like Jim and the other Kalifornians are. What are the odds of seeing a mini-sifu?

Hey, I can't carry the sifu legally where I'm at. But I getting it for the collection anyway (like I said I would when this concept first came up.)

If REKAT wants to scale down with the sifu, fine. If not, hey folks, you got the Carnivour. That's what I would use as a daily carry. If you're in 3" or less state/jurisdiction and worry about lock strength, try the small CR's or slightly longer REKAT pioneers, or the smaller Axis.

There is no problem with scaling this knife down. Even if it is scaled down you still have the choice of the larger version, an as for the carnivour, it doesn't hold a candle for asthetic beauty the way the Sifu does. I wouldn't purchase it for a non use collection because anything I buy I use. I know there are some of you who are probably very good at knife defense but I would think that most are not. If you live in an area that is so bad that you need a 12" knife for protection, most people not all, should get a gun. Too many stabbings will lead to an increase in the gun type legislation that is already plaguing America. If you start cutting into somebody with a Bladeforum designed Sifu that will have a negative effect on Bladeforums, the forumites and any of your beloved bigger knives out there. As rare as they are they would be the focus. I'm probably the least most qualified to fight with a knife but like others I just like to carry. There is something about a well mastered knife, the time and effort it took to make it, how good it looks, how well it fits into your hand the shear quality over other knives and so on. I know other people have different reasons for carrying theirs but it seems most people in this forum are here because they just don't want a slasher but instead like nice functional knives to collect and use.

Just my .02 hope no one is offended.

Hey Jeffa. If the demand is there they will probably scale it down. But I bought mine primarily because of its size, and the gorgeous lines closed the deal. I think the next stop should be an oal of 15". Then a busse bm folder.

I posted the question of a smaller Sifu in the REKAT forum. I thought we might get a better response there. If we are going to continue this discussion can we try it there?

Ok, I finally succumbed to temptation and ordered a SIFU.

Has anyone seen the green G-10, and/or have a picture of it? How is it?

Speaking of handle materials...I saw a green micarta (yes I know it is different) handle on a Randall knife. Beautiful handle...it had a snakeskin appearance to it. Perhaps the micarta was cut different than the ones I have seen which have a wave sort of pattern.

WOW, cool knife. Looks like a big Vector with a rounded mock tonto point and no blood holes. Saw a HAWG that looked like this but couldn't fork out the $500+ bucks on Blade Auction. If it has a pocket clip, I'll get my mastercard out. What the aech ee double tooth picks, I'm in! Let me know.

I'm not guaranteeing serial numbers except for Jim March's because things are completely out of my hands, and something could screw up. Like, you order a left hand black Sifu and I tell you your serial number is 69, but 69 is actually a right hand green Sifu.

Too much of a screwup factor.

I hope Bob doesn't do something like number all of the black-handled ones first, or number all of the right-handed ones first....

Serial numbers are going out on a first come first served basis, and no, they aren't going to be all black right handed first, they will go by the order they were ordered in.

I will not say who has what serial number at this moment, other than Jim has #1

I'm thinking seriously too. time is a factor though, as the money will take a little while to accumulate to that point, seeing that I just bought two (yes, two) Emerson Commanders for my own birthday present.

How long will they take to be ready?

Thanx,
Ed
