The head on this one was forged from 1" square 1086, is 8" long with a 2 1/2 " cutting edge. The spike is hollow ground to about 1/8th " at the bottom. After the head was cleaned up on the grinder it was put back in the fire for texturing with a 2oz ball pein hammer and a fire black finish. The haft is century old barn oak with a carved hand grip and flamed in a spiral and finished in Tru Oil. The few decorations include a little decortive filing at the bottom of the blade, a few copper tacks on the haft, and a forged curl finial and arrowhead haft ornament.
