I'll try this again. Here is a photo of my first serious attempt at knifemaking. I think it went better than my first attempt at posting a photo on Bladeforums, don't you think so Taz. Thanx again for covering me on my first try. I forged this blade from 5160, has a deer horn handle, brass guard black and red spacers and a hand rubbed finish. Many thanks to Bruce Evans for all his help and instruction. He is a great teacher and even better friend.

Thanks Mr. Ralph for fixing my goof. For all those that posted on my first try at posting this - Thank you for the encouraging words. It is indeed a great motivator. I want to express my thanks to Bruce Evans for all the help and instruction he gave me on this project. Not only is he a great teacher, but also the finest of friends. I have been trying to get started making blades for the past 3 or 4 years now and he has always been supportive. Now that I have a job that allows me some time of my own, I'll be at the forge constantly. As for the questions posted on the other post - the blade is 5160, deer horn handle with black/red/black spacers behind a brass guard. Used a "Moran" edge on the blade. My next projects in off and running. I'm making a deerhorn hunter for a friend at work - cable blade. Also, for my brother-in-law, I'm making a bird and trout knife - cable blade, full tang, bone slab handle. By the way, is a joint breaker de riguer on a bird and trout? Next, I have to forge a skinner for father's day, customer insists on yellow delrin handle to match his Dad's Case collection. Does anyone know where I can find some delrin? Thanks again for the feedback. I am off and running and hope to make up for lost time.

That's beautiful...not just for your first but just a very nice knife period. Clean lines and great balance. Well done!
