It ain't a contest. It's about doing what you can do to get mobile.

Between the dates of January 1 and January 31, the challenge is to earn 50 Becker Points. Points can be earned in the following fashion:

1 mile (1.6 km) on foot = 1 Becker Point
4 miles (6.4 km) road cycling = 1 Becker Point
2 miles (3.2 km) mountain biking = 1 Becker Point
1 mile (1.6 km) swimming = 6 Becker Points

If you just do one thing, you'll need to hoof it 50 miles, or road bike 200 miles, or mountain bike 100 miles, or swim 8.3 miles. But you can combine items to build toward 50 Becker Points in any fashion you choose. Honor system in play.

The reward? You'll feel better, and you'll be participating with a group of supportive peers.

Let's get moving, folx!

Woot? No points for moving iron?
Unfair:grumpy:
Seriously though, with all the sets, reps and loads i see how it would be a full time job to calculate the points for it.

Kudos to the rest of you though who don't fringe by the thought of cardio:thumbup:

N_N: There is usually a separate thread for those who lift things up and put them down. Look around, I'm sure it's in here somewhere.

I only move iron... but part of my new years resolution is to do cardio... so I am in...

Starting... tomorrow

Just hit two miles running. Wanted four, but I'm pressed for time tonight.
Oh, and plans are in for a sprint triathlon in May, so I'll be adding some swimming and biking to the mix soon.

Two more this morning. 4 BP.

Set my Runkeeper goal for this year at 600 running miles. I tried for 500 last year but only wound up with 433 logged, mostly due to injuries. I figure, if I can do two miles a day, 600 should be reachable.

Sunday is my designated "Get your ass off the couch" day. Last week Sunday I did a hike on the River to River trail in Southern Illinois. I didn't do all of it but I did 8 miles.

Today was a cold wet and nasty day so I did the treadmill.

I know I have less leg pain if I lift with compression tights on...
Maybe it's all in my head, but it works for me.

Hmmm I don't think I own something like that but perhaps when I get new fitness stuff in the future I'll check it out.

Sore muscles are bound to happen, unless you slack when you lift.
But high protein foods, vitamins, minerals (magnesium in particular), plenty of water an rest usually does the trick.
Allso, i've noticed that creatine shortens the time i need to recover after very hard workouts.

Alright, I'm in. I went in for a check up and I am fat! I've gained another 10 lbs since last summer and it has got to stop.

oooooh you know, I ran out of magnesium supplements a couple of months ago and never bothered to get more because I wasn't sure they were doing anything. Might have to go get some more! I get plenty of protein and water (rest is iffy sometimes). I'll try getting some more magnesium and see if that helps. If that doesn't help, then I just need to suck it up :P
