I'd like to express my thanks to all you fellas that post info, tutorials and answer questions here. After spending some time reading and trying to understand things, I was inspired to give leatherworking a try. I've been admiring sheaths from Leatherman and Chuddy Bear for some time now, and more recently MikeyMoto, Rainwalker, Xaman and Martin Swinkels, since I hang out in the Busse and Swamp Rat forums a good deal. After spending more time in this forum, Gary Graley, Wild Rose and others have played a big part.
Having said all this, I know I can't be the only one that is being influenced by all you guys. So keep up the good work - it doesn't go unnoticed.
I've been making kydex sheaths here and there for a couple of years (for myself). Lately, though, I had a leather "itch", so I bought some tools and beginner's books and a little leather. Although far from great, my first attempt at leatherworking came out halfway decent (I think). Here are a few pics.
Obviously a blatant copy (thanks, Gary
), it needs improvement and refinement, but that'll come with time. It's actually functional, and I've learned a lot just from making this one sheath. There's plenty of questions left, and I'll probably be posting some along the way, but for now I'll just say thanks again, and any comments are welcome - I take criticism pretty well!
