This is the first Tanto I have made along with the wooden sheath. The blade was forged from a 1" RR car spring and was clay hardened for a wavy hamon. Buffalo horn accents the handle and sheath. A copper Habaki accents the blade. The wood used for both handle and sheath is Chalk de Viga. Found on the yukatan peninsula and the color is natural. It will actually darken to a deeper red/orange with age. The oal is 14.25 inches.

thanks for looking

I really like the wood also. If i had to choose a favorite it would be this one. Very unique and really interesting. It has a depth to it that few woods have.

Very nice, on the outside---What about the inside??? I wanna see that blade! Thanks.

Click the link below the pic... takes you to the blade outside the scabbard...

Nice work Chuck! Overall shape and the choice of wood creates a nice package! Would like to see a better pic of the blade to see the hamon, and maybe the spine, too...

Thanks for the feedback. I will get some better pics of the blade. The hamon is a simple wave before I had any idea how to do one. I did this knife a few years ago and decided to give the owner a Christmas present. He had sent it to me to clean up and I decided to add the sheath.

That's one of the nicest I've seen! Great job Chuck. Now get on to the second one.
