help me out here fellas, i am thinking about getting my first set of throwers... what would you guys suggest? are throwers supposed to be cheap china made blades or are they like spydercos and BMs?? i am new to this but i wanna start throwing... lend me some info fellas. thanks!

Check out the Cold Steel carbon V knives in 10 or 12 inch. They can be had for less than $15 and are extremely durable. Or you can get some cheapo china stuff. The china stuff will bend/break easier but can be had for very little. Anything that sticks is good for a starting point. IMHO don't start with anything less than 10" as a bigger knife is easier to stick. Check out saturnine138's thread in this forum if your interested in bayonets.

I learned to throw with a cheap marine combat knife and a bayonet as a kid. But it is better to get a task specific thrower like Mr. SOLEIL suggested.

The more knife-like old true flight thrower from CS is pretty good and as far as 'knives that are also decent throwers' the CS SRK is tops IMO.

do you guys carry a set of throwing knives for SD purposes at all? if that sounds stupid forgive me but i was just wondering...

where can i get a good set of throwing knives?

No
Throwing things at people is too time consuming. Shooting them is a whole lot quicker and easier.

Check out e-bay or just do a search on your PC for "cold steel throwing knife" and then sort everyone out for the best prices and conditions. I have bought most of my CS products from ebay with good results, they usually have the best prices.

well, i don't carry my throwing knives around. I carry folding knives that i would not throw at someone unless given an clear path to run away after throwing it at him.

Drawing a knife is favourable choice if there is a threat to your survival. But if the attack is non-leathal, its stupid to use leathal force. (you know the shit the law can accuse and charge you for)

always happy to help out a fello thrower:thumbup:

well, i would only consider taking out my throwing knives with me while camping.(maybe i'll run into a bear? might give me an edge or juz piss him off more)
:D

While we are on the topic of 1st set of knives I have been itching to return to throwing after some many years. In Zimbabwe I used a Glock 81, some beer and bandaid in the woods at a friend's house.

I am eyeing out the Sog Fusion kit. Or would a few cold steel blades be better to start with?

a more professional thrower will come along shortly and share his points of view, i didn't get to try many types of knives yet
