Fixed Blades: Diff btw "Transporting" and "Carrying"?

OK what's the difference between transporting and carrying a fixed blade?

What if I have a fixed blade in a pack, eg hiking and don't need the big ass blade on my belt? If it's not on my person person (i.e. my pants or belt) but carried in a pack, is that 'carrying' and a felony?

Or just keeping a fixed blade in a backpack daily for the heck of it, is that legal, or will I be an unwitting felon?

I would consider transporting to be like having it in the trunk of your car. I would still consider it to be carried if it is in a backpack on your person. There are even cases where someone was charged with carrying when the contraband was under the seat of the car they were in. This concept is called "constructive possesion".
