Flash is grating on my nerves.

Flash is crashing my system every time I watch a video. Complete format and reinstall of XP doesn't help. 3 different video cards doesn't have an effect. IE, FF, and Opera, all the same. Downgrading flash versions doesn't help. Either the browser crashes, the system BSODs, or the system reboots itself.

No problems otherwise. Anyone ever had this problem?

Last fall my PC had to go into the shop. I got the machine back, but it would crash. I tried formatting and reloading, but the hard drive was corrupted by a virus that a regular format and install could not remove. My tech buddy had to run a special program several times to clean the hard drive. Now its been good for a few months. There is some very complicated nasty stuff out there in internet land.

I've used about every distro of Linux that's been released over the past decade, but software is sorely lacking. My day to day functioning requires things with no Linux equivalent :

Illustrator (Inkskape is usable, but it can't cut)
Vector Magic
Xara's software
Becky! Email (Threading cut/merge saves my brain)
My plotter drivers which are Windows specific and tied to Illustrator

Sigh.

I'd try flashing the BIOS and zeroing the hard drive. If that doesn't work, you got yourself a problem.

I set aside my XP disc and *cough*obtained*cough* an alternate copy thinking it may be something screwy with the original. So far, so good. We'll see what happens, but it's not giving me any problems right now as I watch Buffy (um, I mean Scarface, yeah) and surf the web.

Nothing wrong with Buffy, as long as it isn't the movie. Joss Whedon puts out some amazing stuff. Whenever someone mentions Buffy, it makes me think of a British comedy called "Spaced." If you've seen it, you might get it. If you haven't, you should definitely watch it.

Firefly (and Serenity) was great. I haven't seen the new show. I don't have cable or satellite, I just stream stuff to a TV in the "shop", or watch stuff while I'm online doing something else.
