are there any flat ground or perhaps slightly convex ground traditional pattern slipjoints, apart from SAKs and Opinels? i have both, and love them, but would like to get a more traditional American pattern slipjoint.

i have a case trapper, that i like except for the hollow grinds. i am also looking for a good carbon steel in a pretty high RC level.

i have been looking at Queen, but am still wondering about the grind.

also, can anyone point me in the direction of a reliable queen dealer? i like the looks of eknifeworks.com, but just wondering if anyone has any other goods sites.

thanks

Great Eastern has convex blades. They had a shaky start, but I have hear that their newer products are really good.

thanks for the info...

but still wondering what kind of grind the queens have. it looks flat from the pictures, but it is difficult to tell from the pictures.

Yep, flat grind, at least my newer ones in D2 seem to be.

Apparently you can send off just about any knife to Bark River and they will convex it for a small fee. Somebody around here had them convex a D2 Queen (I think it was Grampa).

Some Case knives are flat ground. I've even seen a jackknife with a flat ground main blade, and a hollow ground pen blade. Odd.

I have only one Queen D2, but it is flat ground.

All of the Queen D2 knives I have seen have been flat ground.

Other brands with flat grinds are Moore Maker, Eye Brand, and Boker.

All the Old Timers I ever saw were a ptetty flat grind and got a wicked edge. Yu can snipe them off E-bay for reasonable prices.
