Flying and Getting Knives to Shows

OK, here's something that's been a mystery to me. With all the talk of airplanes and knives and considering that many makers are not within driving distance to shows, how exactly are you getting the knives there? Are you shipping them somehow? Carry on baggage?(Yeah right!) If you're shipping UPS how do you figure out where to ship to?

I'm thinking especially of Tom Mayo going to Eugene, OR. Sounds like a pain in the neck...
