I stumbled upon this site a couple of weeks ago, and I must say WOW! What a plethera of vast information. I have carried some kind of knife since I was in kindergarden. Try doin that today with a metal detector at the front door of your school. What is the world comming to? Any who my main interest these days in knives are fixed blade all around hunters. For skinning and gutting, mainly whitetail. I have a cutco which is nice, I just wish the blade was not 4.5" long an inch shorter is plenty long for the task ahead. Any suggestions from the forum on great 3 to 3.5 long hunting knives would be great. By the way I do not mind spending money on Items of good quality. Thanx

Take a look in the makers forum. We have some great makers here that will make anything you need. I have several made by JK Knives and I highly recommend him.
Taking a look at all of their sub-forums is a great way to find one or more that you cannot live without.

Hey Chinagreen. Welcome to the site! Your right there is a TON of information here. There are also a lot of great knife makers and manufactures here. KaBar Becker has a BK14 that is in that size range and won't break the bank, however there are a lot of great knives on this site. I saw your favorite knife is a Sog Seal Pup. I have one as well and always thought it would make a good hunting knife, good for skinning I would think. You ever used it for field dressing any game? Just curious.

there's more quality options in this category than you could ever possibly hope to use. have a look around and see what you like.

have a close look at the Fallkniven lineup. there's the WM1, TK6, F1, H1 and a couple of others in the ~3"-4" fixed blade category. the ESEE RC3 and Izula models have nigh-on cult followings. Cold Steel make a bunch of good knives of that length.

i have a WM1-3G which has given me an addiction to 3" fixed blades. i have a semi-custom 3" on order and am trying my damndest not to splash out on a bunch of others. i'm finding my WM1-3G can happily deal with numerous situations where i would otherwise instinctivly reach for a bigger blade.
