Hello,
I am looking for some were that sells foam blanks. I need it for two reasons, one is to make Kydex sheaths and use it to form the Kydex and the other is to make a foam kicking shield. I would like to find blanks about 10X18X5 can be different or I could stack smaller pieces. I searched on google.com but could not find much. If anyone knows were I could buy some of this stuff please let me know. Tanks for the help.

Try the lumber yard, they handle the blue construction foam in 1/2 " up to 2".

Hope this helps

I think you are looking for flexible foam, check out your local upholstery shop, they should be able to help.check internet for suppliers for airex foam,if they can't help..airex is a closed cell foam which works well for forming, but it is hard to find.....

You can try your local gardening store or the gardening section of your local hardware store. They will probably sell a kneeling pad that looks similar to a flutterboard you would see at a pool. They are light green in color, 1 inch thick and very dense (like my skull:)).

I believe that some ground pads, as used in camping(under the sleeping bag), are made of closed cell foam. The price would be reasonable in that case.

"egg-crate" type mattress pads would work I bet. Try Wal-mart or other similar store...

I've used closed cell foam sleeping pads (smooth type, no eggcrate or ribs) for making Kydex sheaths with good results. The foam is called "Ensolite" and is usually 1/2" to 3/4" thick. I picked up a couple of used pads from a military surplus store for $2 ea., a lifetime supply for me. I got the best results by doubling the thickness of the pads.

Thanks guys,
I will try out these different ideas on trying to find some foam. Hopfully I can find some good foam somewere.

The foam is easy. Wallmart, in the sporting goods department. It's too light for a kicking dummy though. I bought a roll of the plastic fence you see on construction sites. Ran a 1/2" piece of threaded rod up the center and put a frisby on each end with a nut. I heated the ends and made an eye on each end....Wrap the whole mess with one ssheet of the foam and use bungi cord to suspend it from a tree and a stake in the ground. Works great and you can also use it for sword practice With a wooden sword.

I got my molding foam from Blade Tech quite a while ago.. Call and talk to whoever is handling the Concealex/Kydex sales and ask if you can buy some.. Blade Teck carries everything you need for making sheaths, but you wont see anything about it on the website... The thin mattress foam doesnt work very well compared to this stuff..... Hope this helps ya..

Take Care
