Hello to all.

I'm looking for a nice traditional folder for less than $150, preferably closer to $100 if the quality is good. I just bought a Case (doctor's) knife and found it a bit subpar (blades off-center and poor overall fit). I would like recommendations for a good brand of traditional folders. Good fit and finish is fundamental. I'll be buying online, sight unseen, several knives to give as gifts, therefore it's important to minimize the chance of getting lemons that need to be returned.

Any help with this request would be appreciated.

I'd have to agree with black mamba. GEC makes some fantastic knives and most of them are at or below $100.

+1 on GEC.

Another brand to look at is Queen. They usually have good fit and finish. They unfortunately are also notorious for not having sharp factory edges. If that's not a problem for you though, they can be had for less than $100.

Schatt and Morgan.

Thank You.This is the second thread in here tonight... BF's offers a wealth of finds.........
There are two Schatts right now in the exchange, great prices

$100,can easily get you 2 nice slipjoints,if you look in the right places

I picked up a 1970 10 dot barehead bone scaled Case Dr. for $35 in the exchange, right here on BF's

OR, (this will not be a popular post )))) You could buy 15 Rough riders. Think of it, 15 different patterns to try out.

Personally I'm a BIG fan of Queen. I haven't tried a lot of other brands on the slipjoint front but I own 2 Queens and love them to death.

Offcourse I don't mind sharpening my knife when I first get it.

black mamba has done his homework gec in 1095 are simply the best factory knives in the world.fit & finish border on custom quality & edge holding of the 1095 will astound a person.
