My Brother has been bugging me for some time for a knife, so being the fisherman that he is I decided to make him a folding fillet knife.
Blade is 5 inches long D-2, Ground from 3/32 stock. Overall length is 11 inches. Liners are .071 titanium with titanium spacers and desert ironwood overlays. The back has been left open for easy cleaning. And I attached a lanyard because his knives have a habit to sometimes go for a swim.
Thanks for looking,
Chuck

Possibly the coolest fillet knife I have seen - congratulations , your brother will be delighted I'm sure.

Looks like a nice functional blade. Pardon my ignorance, but D2 is often made pretty hard, and fillet knives are generally flexible. The stock is relatively thin, did you make the knife at a lower hardness for some added flexibility?

My brother and I like a thicker, less flexible knife for the way we fillet. We usually have knives designated for skinning the fillets. The blade does have some flexiblity and if you just hold the knife flat on the cuttongboard it does not need to flex.

That is a beauty! How did you get the plunge so smooth? Do you use a soft padded platen? Very fine work indeed ;)
