I'm a hat guy I'm always wearing one.. When I think back my dad did as well (usually a fedora style hat) classy all the way. After he retired he switched on and of between a baseball hat ans a straw western style hat..But he used to tell me that back in "the day" all men wore a hat same as carrying a pocket knife.. Just thought I'd probe and get your thoughts and se your pics on folksy headware...

Mostly baseball hats (I got a bunch), but sometimes I feel like wearing my Leather Stetson.

Back in "the day", hats were considered a part of men's formal wear. From what I understand, you were under dressed if you didn't have one. The formal suit has obviously evolved away from this, with hats of the like no longer sitting atop men's noggins.

I only really own two baseball style hats: one tan one that my wife absolutely loves me in, and a orange feed hat (Purina) from my grandfather's NAVHDA meeting yesterday near San Diego. My wife doesn't like the obnoxiously bright feed hat so much :)

Mostly ball caps for me. Keeps the sun out of my eyes. It's my 90% hat; that it works for most of the time for what I'm doing and where I am.

If I'm going out on the water, or out in the sun for longer times, I prefer a kahki bucket hat. Keeps the sun off a bit better.

For winter, I love my old watch cap. I got it from a relative that was in the navy, and it's the real deal, the double thick knit one of real wool.

My really foul weather hat is a Filson tin cloth oil finish hat. It's about 20 years old, and it still keeps the rain off. If I have to break out the iol finish duster coat, the filson goes on the head.

Not many people see a hat as a edc piece of equiptment anymore.

:) Not quite as many hats as knives BUT I could probably wear a different ball cap for 30 days without a repeat:D Summer time I have switched to a TOPLESS :p hat IE. visor, 6-8 LIDS (cowboy hats felt & straw)! SOOO yea I seldom am WITHOUT some sort of hat on my head sort of like a knife ,wallet, keys, ETC. I feel NAKID without these pieces of my daily routine!!!;)

I remember my Grandfather telling me, that the English Lyons Tea Houses (a famous chain of tea houses) were quite revolutionary in the 40s that you were allowed in if you were not wearing a hat!!

Stainless-steel heat-treating foil-lined, horned Viking helmets are the ONLY way to go.

I admit I consider hats a protective device; if there's nothing to be protected from (sun, rain, snow, cold...) I don't wear 'em.

I make no attempt to hide my mostly-bald head.

I like knit watch caps when it's cold; I like the looser-fitting jobs with some insulation present.
For dressier wear when it's cold I like the snap-brim type. I have been known to wear a beret...

The "cowboy" hat may be a practical device, but here in the Midwest we don't have a lot of cowboys.....Everyone I see wearing one of these seems to be trying to send some sort of message.

Not too folksy but I pack around a toque or "wool cap" as most people would call it. I even wear it on cool mornings in the summer. Allows me to warm up or cool down without as much extra clothing.

Tilley TH4 Hemp is my favorite hat.

I am a hat fan. I wear a company logo ball cap everyday at work and I also have a Stetson and fisherman style hat for off days. Used to wear a wool flat cap often, but my dog got a hold of it and haven't picked a new one up yet.

I will wear a hat everyday for 6mo. to a year and then not wear one at all for an equal period, not sure why, just different moods I guess.

You guys need to make sure you wear a hat. When I was a boy I was outside most of my life. Now at 61 I am being treated for Sun exposure so it won't turn into Cancer of the skin on my scalp. It's not fun..So wear that hat and prootect yourself.

I have a woolrich fedora for the winter time and a Tilley T4 hemp for the summer.

I have to wear a company logo ball cap to work, and I have a pretty big rotation of other caps I wear when I'm out and about. I ordered one of NGK's logo hats, and I wear it pretty much all the time now.

I had a few fedoras and Panamas that I loved, but they were irreparably squashed when I moved last summer. I was given a leather gambler a few Christmases ago, but the glued-on band came off and I couldn't be bothered trying to repair it decently. It was a cheap hat, but I loved it.

If you are hard on hats look for 'crushables' Akubra, Stetson and Resistol all make one.
They are wool felt, but that aint all bad.
My favorite was a stingy brim fedora from Cabela's from the 80's.

Sunbody makes a crushable straw hat as well.
That is one in my photo above.

Filson Bush hat all year round.

The waxed cotton can be a bit hot in the summer, but I like the rain protection.

Absolutely. I have a black felt hat that I have used for probably 10 years.
It has been smashed 100's of times and still goes back to decent shape...

I've worn ball caps and cowboy hats since I was in grade school, which was about 40 years ago.
There are very few times when I don't wear one. If I don't, I feel naked and nobody recognizes me..

The last nice western hat I bought was about 12 years ago. Gray Bailey 5x beaver.

I have a sort of fleece watch cap that I wear in the winter, and I wear a ball cap or boonie hat when mowing the grass. Sometimes when camping I'll spray DEET on a ball cap to keep the bugs away. I don't wear hats generally or as a fashion accessory though.
