Some of you may recall that I used my Bk 2 & 11 to skin my wild turkey. Well, I'm also an avid deer hunter. Since rain is in my forecast for the next few days and the fear of frost has most likely passed I thought yesterday would be a good time to finish up my spring food plots for the whitetails. I wondered if a larger knife might come in useful for this job. Rounded up the supplies and headed to the farm.
The Izula is my edc, so its going. But, which of these should be my primary for the day? The USMC and the 7 have yet to be used. They're definitely in need of being broken in.
After much thought, the 7 and the USMC were retired to their boxes and the 2 was called up for duty once again. First up was a small field that I had previously worked up, but it needed a quick touch up before seeding. Significant rain and some flooding of the nearby creek had exposed some roots that I didn't want tangled in my tiller. No big deal for the Bk 2.
With that field complete it was time to head up to a larger plot site. On the way up the hill I encountered a small road block.
Sure, I could plow right through that thing with the tractor, but why not let the 2 finish its warmup I thought.
Problem Solved.
Now this field had previously been worked up as well, but dormant seed has sprouted.
This was my only day to get this done, so it was time for some more tilling. I was chugging right along when boom boom bang followed by an engine stall. Took a peak under the tiller. I don't remember this being here last time I worked this field.
What ever could I use to bust this nasty log out of the tiller tines? Oh, I know. It may have stopped the tractor, but it was no match for an angry hillbilly armed with a Bk2. I gave it a few extra whacks for good measure.
A couple hours later and tilling is complete.
Time to seed. The 2 can help get that process started as well.
Lunch time.
I sure could use something to help get my Viennas (pronounced Vy-ee-knees where I'm from by the way) out of the can. The 2 can help here as well.
Some crazy bug was attracted to the food and landed on my arm.
The Bk2 doesn't like to share lunch.
Got back to work and finished up the job.
You know, sometimes I just have to wonder why I have all these other knives. Sure, I could find a use for them if I tried. But for the tasks I engage myself in as I go about my normal business the 2 sure does serve me well. I like it. I suppose the others will be sitting in brand new condition for awhile yet.
