Until recently my lighter performed flawlessly. It now sometimes takes 10-15 tries for it to light. I've changed the flint, added fuel and pulled the wick out about 1/2 inch to expose some new wick. It still takes way too many attempts to light

Any ideas ... suggestions

Thanks

No didn't replace it ... this is the first time that I pulled out some new wick so there's plenty left of the original - not too short that I can tell.

Did you trim the old part of the wick off some times that helps. If all else fails take the thick cotton part on the bottom and your flint screw out pull some of the cotton batting out until you see the beginning of the wick and soak that down with lighter fluid put everything back and see if that helps sometimes a new wick needs a little priming to get going. Good luck.

Take a steel toothbrush and really clean the wheel, crap builds up in the grooves and while they still spark they don't throw as big or as much spark causing the problem you described. Of course if you go to Zippo's website and ask, they will send you a mailer and fix it for free.
