This was an exercise in patience. From the forging to the finishing, it was a slow process
. This is the first forged CPM3-V blade I have made. Forging was very slow and had to be done at low temperature to prevent the steel from cracking. The blade measures 6" in length with the knife's overall length of 10 3/4". The handle is African Blackwood. The fittings are stainless, and feature 24k gold inlay and deep relief scroll engraving. The knife will take down by removing the finial.
I tested the knife on several trees and it performed like only 3-V can. From burying the tip and twisting out a plug of wood to choping and tourqueing the edge, it suffered no damage. The spine thickness is 3/16", so it is not excessively thick, and it balances on the index finger at the guard. I had to convince myself not to keep this one
.
Price on this one is $675, with a sheath and shipping conUS.
Let me know what you think
