Here's one I just finished.
The blade is forged 1095 with differential heat treatment, etched and handrubbed to 1200 grit. I gave it a stainless steel guard, wrought iron ferrule, and stabilized russian olive handle. The blade is in the neighborhood of 13 inches and overall length is about 18 inches. It makes cool "schwing" noises when you swing it around.
I drew some inspiration for this knife from Brion Tomberlin's persian fighters, as well as few german hunting swords I've seen. I also threw in a little japanese DNA for good measure.
The thermal cycling brought out some cool alloy banding.
The russian olive is a nice warm brown that compliments the cool greys and whites nicely. It feels pretty good in the hand too.
Thanks for indulging me.
