What color do you forge your cable at? Specifically is it a red orange or orange or bright orange. Or yellow orange, yellow or bright yellow. I know its alot of colors but its the best way I know how to say it. I forged some at a bright orange and it didnt weld but then I went to a bright yellow and it did. I was making it for miniatures so the hardess isnt critical.

lemon yellow, if a coat hanger or tie wire sticks to it in the forge it should be ready. The most common mistake is heating cable to quickly, the outside is hot but the inside is still to cold to weld.

The cable should be of a uniform color. No dark/cold spots.

You were on the money. Tried it and it worked great. I'm doing it with a rosebud. Just messing around till I make my forge. I made a miniature and put it on Ebay and sold for 14.00 not bad for 1 hour of work (it wasnt cable dam). So I'm gonna make some mini's out of my small dia. cable.
