Forum knives ?????

When are they available?
How do you know when they are available?
How can they be ordered?
How are they different?
Are they more $ than regular production knives?

please advise i am relativly new to the forums.
Maybe i can get in on the next one.

There's only been a few Spyderco Forum knives. Usually they're first offered throught the spyderco.com forum. As far as I know there's been a Military, a Native, and a Spyderhawk. The Military had a bug inlaid in the G10 and all of them just had some engraving on the blade; the other two had blue handles also. There hasn't been one in awhile, and I've never owned one, so I'd say one is due. I think it may be a Manix if it happens, or they may wait for the next generation Delica/Endura due out at the end of the year.

You just missed the boat. Dialex (a forum member) designed a knife to be the new forum knife. There will still be a standard production folder, but the forum version is engraved special. You might still be able to get one by talking to Kristi at Spyderco, but I think the deadline was mid-late Sept.
 
Indeed, the 2005 forum knife was recently available thru the Spyderco website.
Instead of making a batch of say 200 knives Spyderco opted to make this one a pre paid custom order this time.

I don't know how many where actually made i guess around 150.

Cost was considerably less then MSRP iirc even with the engraving.
If you are interrested you can always visit the Spyderco forum and snoop around.
This years Spyderco forum knife was a succes, so i hope there will be a next one in 2006.

Of course with the fact that it was a very limited edition and it was pre-paid custom order the knife could raise substantial in value in the next years.

Just visit the forum and hang around for a while, it's a very friendly forum.:thumbup:

It might even be possible to get your hands on a forum dialex if you stay along , some members have ordered more then one knife.
 
With the soon-to-be-delivered Adventura, there have been 6 Spyderco Forum Knives. Some have been "advertised" through the Forum on Spyderco.com, others through the Spyderco Forum on BladeForums. The "Forum Knives" so far are:

o Military with mother-of-pearl spyder inlay
o Blue G-10 Native
o Burgundy FRN Vesuvius
o Blue FRN Native III
o Blue FRN Spyderhawk PE
o "Dialex" Adventura


The only way to get the Forum knives is to watch the Forums :D (or hope for one on the resale market).

The G-10 Native was offered in both PE and SE(70/30) blade styles. The Vesuvius looks black the color is so dark. It also had the compression lock.

There should be pics around somewhere.
 
Yes the forum version only differs in the engraving on the blade...we expect them anytime so I'm sure pics will follow shortly...I'm excited for my first forum knife! :D
 
I'd recommend picking up one of the standard runs in place of a forum model. Same great knife, but no worries about destroying its collectibility by beating it. I'm still debating on picking up a user myself.
 
There are 3 Spyderco forum knives on Ebay right now.
 
Are they the Forum model with the engraving or is the standard model?

I thought they were the standard model, but I could have been wrong.
