Mr. Bill Martino
3495 Lakeside Drive
Reno, Nevada 89509

Dear Mr. Martino:

Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns
about the current situation in Nepal. I appreciate hearing from you.

As you know, Nepal is currently battling at the front line of
terrorism. Leaders of the underground Communist Party of Nepal
(Maoist) have been fighting a "People's War" over the past five
years, inciting violence in 35 of Nepal's 75 districts. More than
2,900 people, including civilians, guerrillas, and security
personnel, have been killed in the 5-year insurgency which has
been waged through torture, killings, and bombings targeting
police and public officials.

The U.S. war on terrorism has given new impetus to U.S.
aid to Asia. In addition to working to alleviate poverty,
encouraging democratic social and political forces, fostering
economic growth and stability, and cultivating bilateral relations in
Asia, the United States has redoubled its efforts in fighting
terrorism in this part of the region. For this reason, the Emergency
Supplemental Appropriations (P.L. 107-38) allocates $40 million
to help Nepalese troups combat terrorism in their country, as well
as supporting education, government, and infrastructure activities.

Working to strengthen the capacity of the Nepalese
government is the first step in combating militant groups such as
the Maoists. Please rest assured that I will continue to monitor the
situation in Nepal with your concerns in mind.

Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts
with me. For more information about my work for Nevada, my
role in the United States Senate Leadership, or to subscribe to

My best wishes to you.

Sincerely,

HARRY REID
United States Senator

It's nice to know that there is somebody in D.C that replies to inquiries.:)

Reid is an okay guy. I'd been fighting with the VA for three years trying to get my medical records tranferred to Reno and couldn't get them to do it. I asked Reid for help and he got it done in 10 days.

As much as I dislike the mans politics (anti gun, pro big government, democrat party line man) I do have to admit that he has done a dman good job for our state. I even voted for him, without him we would be up to our noses in nuke waste.

I am not going to turn this into too big of an issue, but...
Nevada recives no benifit from the power, why should we have to take on the waste? Anyone ever been to Yucca Moutian? See them fault lines? Just wait till the next earthquake, and watch it sink into the water supply, screw 3 mile island this will destroy the west. Dont even get me started on the fact that the moutian has gold in it, I can just see it 5000 years from now when someone finds the stuff while mining and kills half the population of the west. Or transportation issues...

Anyway its good too see that he sent you a responce Bill.
I also sent a letter, (snail mail) we shall see what type of responce I get. That might be a form letter, but at least enough people are asking for them to have to make one!

I know what you mean. But he's got more good points than bad as far as I can tell so gets my vote, too.
