Man, I'm on my 9th molding trying to get some retention on a kydex sheath for a BRKT mini-Northstar.

The handle is a perfect taper from pommel to the blade and there's NOTHING for the sheath to click into.

I'm really close to giving up.

It's easy.. send it over.. I'll do it for ya.. :D:thumbup:

no seriously :p
there should be some room for retention just behind the ricasso, before the first finger..
Heat the kydex really good, really rubbery.. not Soft, but rubbery.. edges curl up allready..
Mold it into this.. the kydex will stick.
Take it out when it's hardened somewhat, but still plieable (it won't open, as the kydex sticks). Push your thumbs where you want the retention, and then finish the pressing. Maybe repeat the thumbpushing every minute or so...

or try the heatgun with a nozzle on it..
it's doable ..

Good luck mate!

GOT IT!!

Not exactly what I was looking for but it holds well enough.

Problem is the guy who I was making the sheath for wanted to carry it "scout style" so I needed a bit more retention than usual.

It turned out pretty good.
