I guess this knife is no longer in production? I searched pretty good for one today online but only found the JR model in cv. Can anybody shed some light on the large?

an alternative to case

Moore Maker, Inc. Matador, TX. model #3103 Large Sod Buster style knife, Working knives series (Delrin Handles), 4 5/8" closed length in 1095 carbon

Or in bone #5103 in 1095 carbon, much more expensive

You will find in on ebay Sporting Goods > Hunting > Knives > Folding Blade

Or at Moore Maker Dealers

Or
http://catalog.mooremaker.com/browseGroup.cfm?item_group_id=29383
But their prices are high

Be Careful! Moore makers are dicey on quality and high on price. There is more than one thread in this forum about bad quality Moores. Ive been burned by them as well.

If you're looking for a nice large soddie, you may give Eye-Brand a try. Their large one is almost 5 inches, good carbon steel and very rugged.

Also if they are still available, the Kissing Krane large brown mule. Take a little fine sandpaper and 0000 steel wool to the wood, and a little linseed oil rubbed in and buffed and you have a very nice traditional sodbuster.

if you live around a farmers co op {sfa}the ones around here have a pretty good selection of case. Queen also makes a good full size sodbuster or used to. good luck.
I prefer the case for the money though.
